UNC TarHeel Trauma Presents : 9th Annual Pre-Hospital Skills Competition

Each team should consist of two to three members with a minimum of one paramedic. Space is limited to six teams.

For additional information or to register, please contact tarheeltrauma@unchealth.unc.edu no later than April 10, 2026.

A list of items for participants to bring will be sent out one month prior to the competition. Participants should supply their own personal items such as stethoscopes, scissor pouches, goggles/ glasses, and gloves.

Competition Guidelines:

Performance will be judged on practical skills and professionalism. Standing orders will be assumed for all interventions. The lead judge will answer questions during the scenario but will only repeat requested order/s even if incorrect. Equipment and supplies must be brought and provided by each team. Please see the attached list.

Judging criteria for the competition will be based on:

• NC Medical Board Approved EMS Skills/Medications PALS/PEPP Standards
• DOT National Standard Curriculum ACLS Standards
• NC Critical Care Curriculum BCLS Standards
• NC OSHA Standards ITLS/PHTLS Standards
• NCCEP Protocol, Policies, and Procedures
