The Mayor of Carrboro, NC and Mayor of Hillsborough, NC are declaring May 30th, 2020 as 'Hot Car Awareness' Day. Participate by reminding your community members, family, and friends to never leave their child alone in a car and to lock your car so kids can't crawl in and get trapped inside. Five Ways to Stop Falls at Home
On September 24th from 1 to 1:45 p.m., we’ll be partnering with the Orange County Department on Aging to discuss five ways to stop falls at home. Occupational therapist Marie Dagger and UNC Injury Prevention Coordinator Anna Stormzand will discuss key areas to focus on as you work towards staying safer at home. Matter of Balance – A Virtual Falls Prevention Class for Older Adults
A Matter of Balance is an evidence-based program for older adults who are worried about falling. This eight session class helps older adults who live independently to overcome their fear of falls and increase their physical activity by learning about how to get rid of falls hazards in the home, talk to health care providers about falls risk, create an individual physical activity plan and how to get up after a fall.
