May Day is a two-day conference carefully designed to meet the educational needs of the healthcare team across the continuum of trauma care. \nThis year’s conference follows the trauma continuum of care\, featuring topics on disaster preparedness\, pre-hospital care\, emergency medicine\, critical care\, acute care\, rehab\, and more. \nWe are also making a virtual option available to those that cannot attend in person. Check the agenda to see which of the presentations will be live-streamed. \nIn addition\, the conference also features other attractions such as a vendor exhibition\, poster presentations\, daily giveaways\, and a silent auction. \nThe May Day Conference is a great opportunity to learn\, network\, and have fun. DESCRIPTION:TNCC offers interactive learning with scenario-based assessments and is the premier course for trauma care. \n\nA systematic approach to the initial assessment\nHands-on training to provide expert care\nEvidence-based content developed by trauma experts\nPatient advocacy regarding pain management and family presence\n\nCost: $225.00 for Registered Nurses $185.00 for Auditors \nLocation: UNC Timberlyne Training Center\, 1129 Weaver Dairy Road\, Chapel Hill\, NC 27514 0800-1630 Day 1 0800-1330 Day 2. \nDetails: Full course attendance is required. Continental breakfast and lunch are provided. Course materials are distributed approximately one month prior to the class. \nCancelation Policy: A full refund will be issued if training materials and cancellations are received 14 business days prior to the course. An $85.00 fee will be applied for any cancellation within 14 days of the course. Refunds do not apply to “no show attendees.” \nIn accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act\, please advise us if you have any disability that requires special materials and/or services. \nApplication and payment are due one month prior to the course. SUMMARY:Matter of Balance - A Virtual Falls Prevention Class for Older Adults
DESCRIPTION:A Matter of Balance is an evidence-based program for older adults who are worried about falling. This eight session class helps older adults who live independently to overcome their fear of falls and increase their physical activity by learning about how to get rid of falls hazards in the home\, talk to health care providers about falls risk\, create an individual physical activity plan and how to get up after a fall. Participants will also learn and practices exercises that strengthen the muscles that are linked to balance. This program is provided by Chatham Council on Aging and UNC Trauma Program. The first class of the series beings April 13th at 1 PM – 3 PM and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 – 3PM for the following four weeks.
